Minister of National Development Planning, Hon Alexander Chiteme has said Zambia is currently generating a national report on the progress it has made towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mr Chiteme says the document will be presented for review at the 2020 United Nations (UN) High Level Political Forum on SDG’s to be held in Network in July, 2020.
ZANIS reports that Mr Chiteme revealed this, during a press briefing at his office this morning.
Mr Chiteme explained that the UN High Level Political Forum allows member States to share experiences on the progress individual countries have achieved in the implementation of SDGS.
“Government working closely with the UN, the private sector, civil society organisations and other stakeholders have developed a National SDG coordinating frame work to guide the implementation, monitoring and reporting on SDGS” Hon Chiteme said.
The Minister said government has created a conducive environment of implementing SDGs and has since called for concerted efforts if Zambia is to successfully implement the SDGs.
Mr Chiteme further implored the media to play a critical role of raising awareness on the implementation of SDGs.
Zambia will be among the eight countries that will present a Voluntary National Review (VNR) SDGs report for the first time to the HLPF.
