Zambia’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Ethiopia, His Excellency Emmanuel Mwamba has called on the diaspora community to be united and contribute to the development of Zambia.
Speaking on Saturday when he met the Zambian community based in Ethiopia at the Zambia residence, Mr. Mwamba said government had formally recognized the diaspora community through the Diaspora Policy.
He said the new policy placed the diaspora community as a valuable resource to tap into to help develop the country.
Mr. Mwamba informed the community that the Zambia-Ethiopia Business Forum will grow business and investment opportunities between the two countries.
He also said the project to honour Dr. Kenneth Kaunda was proceeding as planned and he disclosed that the project will be adopted as a SADC initiative and brought to the African Union by the region.
He said Zambia was proposing that one of the AU buildings be named in honour of Dr. Kaunda.
He also called on the diaspora to rise above ethnic, tribe, regions class and other divisions and contribute through resources and skills to develop Zambia.
