Mines Minister Richard Musukwa in the company of several mining technocrats including mine union leaders yesterday toured KCM operations in Chililabombwe and Chingola.
During the visit, the minister held meetings with management to discuss the turnaround plan for the mine and assured government support to the team.
Hon. Musukwa later addressed employees and allayed fears that government had already sold the mine. He assured them that government was conducting the liquidation process in a cautious and transparent manner, and that their welfare was one of the items on its priority list.
The minister encouraged employees to work hard in partnership with management and increase production as the government continues to engage stakeholders, as it looks for a new and competent company to takeover the mine.
