Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Sturdy Mwale has opened a technical meeting that has drawn technical experts from the African Union (AU).
The meeting is the AU Technical Working Group responsible for developing and facilitating the capability for Command, Control, Communication and Information Systems (C3IS) for the African Union Standby Force.
Mr. Mwale expressed gratitude gratitide to the AU Commission for choosing Zambia to hold such a high-level technical meeting.
Mr. Mwale said the work of the Africa Stand by Force will go a long way in fostering peace and security on the continent to create an environment suitable for Development.
And Zambia’s ambasssdor to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union His Excellency Emmanuel Mwamba said Zambia will participate closely in activities of the AU and help shape the international agenda of the country.
He thanked His Excellency President Edgar Lungu who he said has vigorously re-ignited Zambia’s role in International affairs.
The meeting has drawn experts from the African Union Commission (AUC) and from regional bodies such as ECCAS, ECOWAS and SADCC.
The African Union Commission is implementing the establishment of a Command Control Communication and Information Systems (C3IS) for the African Standby Force (ASF).
The ASF is an African-led Peace Support Operations (PSO), and is setting up a Command Control Communication and Information Systems Architecture
The main objective of the Project is to implement a continental C3IS structure that will enable the AU to rapidly deploy Strategic and Operational Communication, Command and Control Capabilities between the AU as Strategic Headquarters in Addis Ababa, the Regional Level Standby Forces and Field Missions.
