The ministry of General Education Permanent secretary Dr. Jobbicks Kalumba says the aspect of the reduction of School fees in President Edgar Lungu’s State of the Nation Address to Parliament last week fulfills Governments philosophy of ‘Not Leaving Anyone Behind.”
“The President talked about the aspect of which is so dear to my heart…the reduction of school fees by Government to allow thousands of boys and girls access Education. This is the way to go this is the fulfilling of the philosophy of not leaving anyone behind, and pro-poor.” He reaffirmed.
He added that the reduction of school fees is impressive as many children have gone back to school.
Dr. Kalumba stated that the move is above politics because education is a common good for every Zambian adding that what government has put in place is well meant as it is going to benefit each and every Zambian citizen regardless of their region, political or religious affiliation.
He emphasized that this is what defines an “Inclusive Government.”
Meanwhile Dr. Kalumba has encouraged teachers countrywide to inculcate environmental conservation Knowledge in learners.
He said schools must always be educating learners to be very cautious when it comes to dealing with the environment.
“We have sources of water which should be protected at all times and the education of our children towards that is very important.” He stated.
In an interview with Smart Eagles, Mr. Kalumba said it requires concerted efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change rather than name calling or finger pointing.
He has since urged all schools countrywide to take the tree planting exercise seriously as it is poised to yield greater results in future.
