Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), His Excellency Emmanuel Mwamba met with officials from the
Economic, Social, Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) to finalize the relocation of the organ’s secretariat from the African Union Commission to Lusaka, Zambia.
Mr. Mwamba met His Excellency Ahmed El-Bashir to discuss various issues related to the relocation.
Mr. Mwamba stated that it was imperative that decisions of the African Union Summit that included the relocation of the ECOSOCC Secretariat were implemented.
He said government was ready to receive the last evaluation team to ensure that the Secretariat’s offices were ready.
And Mr. El-Bashir said recruitment of the 18 first official of the Economic, Social, Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) of the African Union staff was underway.
ECOSOCC is an advisory organ to the African Union.
Its main function is to contribute, through advise, to the effective translation of the objectives, principles and policies of the Union into concrete programmes, as well as the evaluation of these programmes.
