As road safety agencies encouraged to support the head of state in promoting road safety
The Zambia road safety trust says the levels of commitment by President Edgar Lungu to promote road safety is encouraging and must be supported.
Recently the Head Of State directed that road patrols along high ways and other roads be amplified and also called for the installation of seat belts in public vehicles all in an effort to promote road safety.
ZRST communications advisor Miles Mwale is elated by the commitment and has encouraged for more interventions to be put in place to sustain the agenda.
“Such directives and commitment coming from the head of state is a very good thing but people mandated to promote road safety should not always wait for directives but should ensure they work to reduce road traffic accidents” Mr Mwale said.
He further called for speedy implementation of all safety measures as directed by the head of state in order to restore sanity on the roads.
He is concerned that road traffic accidents have continued to deprive the country of the much needed human capital but says the situation can change with sustained commitment from all stakeholders.
