Shiwang’andu area Member of Parliament Hon Stephen Kampyongo, has donated 40 desks to Ilondola Primary School as part of his continued efforts to support schools in the constituency.
Speaking after making the donation at Ilondola Primary School in Shiwang’andu district of Muchinga Province, Hon. Kampyongo, who is Home Affairs Minister said it is President Edgar Lungu’s desire that quality education is accessible to all Zambians.
He said ensuring that people in rural areas especially young girls attain education is a certain way of alleviating poverty in the country.
He pledged his continued total support to improving the education infrastructure in the district
“We shall continue to support the school, this is not the end. This is a historical school which has contributed so much to this area in terms of people who have passed through this school,” he said.
In receiving the donation, School Headteacher, Jeremiah Mubanga thanked Hon Kampyongo for the gesture stating that it would go a long way in improving the learning conditions of the pupils.
Mr Mubanga further appealed to the Minister for a water tank to help improve the water and sanitation situation at the school.
And the Minister has expressed excitment at the progress of works on the construction of a one by three (1×3) classroom block and office at Kalikiti Primary School in Shiwang’andu district.
The project which started in December 2019 will be completed by the end of this month at a cost of K68,000 using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) .
According to the Shiwang’andu Lawmaker, construction of more classroom blocks in the district is a means of ensuring everyone of school going age got access to education.
