SPECIAL Assistant to the President for Projects Implementation and Monitoring, Andrew Chellah has given Swift Cargo one month to complete works on the 15km Mufulira – Mukambo road.
Mr. Chellah says President Edgar Lungu is deeply concerned with the delays of works whose works started four years ago.
Speaking when he inspected works at the site Mr. Chellah said government has been consistent in releasing about two hundred million kwacha towards the road project but little has been done.
He says it is unfair for the contractor to keep on delaying the project adding that the move is frustrating government efforts in delivering development.
Meanwhile Mr. Chellah has further directed the contractor to scout for more earth moving equipment for the project.
He noted that the machinery that the contractor is using towards ongoing works is not sufficient for the works.
Mr. Chellah was accompanied by officials from the Road Development Agency-RDA, consultants to the agency and officials from Swift Cargo.
