The Zambia National Marketeers Credit Association (ZANAMACA) has praised government for its commitment in constructing markets around the country.
ZANAMACA President Mupila Kameya has hailed government for starting to reconstruct the Lusaka City Market which was gutted in 2017.
Mr Kameya said government has done its level best in supporting marketeers by providing them with trading places.
He said this has been shown through construction of major markets like the Lusaka City Market.
Mr Kameya the reconstruction of the gutted Lusaka City Market shows government’s commitment in providing shelter to the marketeers.
“Government under the leadership of His Excellency Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu has shown commitment to support marketeers by providing them with shelter to trade from. As ZANAMACA, we want to appreciate government for constructing major markets in different parts of the country as this will help many youths especially school leavers with a place to start their business from,” he said.
“Government is doing its level best in order to support marketeers in the country by constructing major markets. Government has done well to raise the money to reconstruct the the Lusaka City Market. This shows commitment by the Patriotic Front Government to provide shelter for the marketeers that were affected when the market was gutted.”
In an interview, Mr. Kameya appealed to the marketeers to excise patience as government constructs markets in the country.
Government through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) early this year released 22 Million Kwacha for the reconstruction of Lusaka City Market.
