The Local Government Service Commission has dismissed eleven employees for various offences.
The 11 employees have been dismissed for misappropriation of funds, theft, dishonest conduct, gross negligence and absenteeism in a bid to ensure a disciplined workforce.
This came to light following a technical support visit to Muchinga, Northern and Luapula Provinces from 26th April to 5th May, 2021 aimed at clearing outstanding cases pertaining to promotions, appointments among other matters.
A total of 855 cases involving appointments, confirmations, promotions, acting appointments, training, transfers, study leave as well as staff discipline were processed.
And the Commission’s Chairperson Amos Mwila Musonda, urged principal officers not to delay processing of confirmations and promotions among other outstanding cases.
He has also urged local authorities to be innovative and creative in raising local revenues to compliment grants from the government.
He commended Mwense town council for excellent management skills that have seen the local authority having four months’ buffer of salaries.
Mr. Musonda implored principal and chief officers to be prudent and accountable in the management of public finances and ensure value for money in service provision.
Meanwhile, the chairperson has since called on principal officers who would double as district electoral officers in the forthcoming general elections to be neutral and exhibit professionalism.
