The traditional leaders declared their support for President Lungu when PF SECRETARY GENERAL Hon. Davies Mwila met them at Mpongwe Secondary School today.
The five traditional leaders who have declared their support for President Lungu are Chief Mwinuna, Chief Kalunkumya, Chieftaines Lesa, Chief Machiya and Chieftainess Malembeka.
Chief Mwinuna says there’s need for the people of Mpongwe to ensure that President Lungu continues to government beyond 2021 because of the many developmental projects his government has implemented.
Chief Mwinuna said he was at pains in 2016 when the opposition scooped the Parliamentary seat in Mpongwe.
He has since urged his fellow traditional leaders in the district to direct their subjects to vote for President Lungu and the PF so that he can continue to steer development in the country.
The traditional leaders said that the country has seen unprecedented development in the last five years President Lungu has been in power.
Chief Mwinuna emphasized that it is the role of traditional leaders to give guidance to their subjects including on political matters.
Meanwhile, Chieftainess Lesa has commended government for putting the maize floor price at K150.
Her Royal Highness however appealled to government to work on the Mpongwe/Machiya road which she said is in dilapidated state.
And Hon. Davies Mwila stressed that meaningful development can only happen when all office bearers voted into office are from the ruling party.
He said it is for this reason that the people of Mpongwe should this time around ensure that they give the PF an MP who won’t have difficulties working with government.
The PF Chief Executive Officer also assured their royal highness that he will present all their concerns to President Lungu.
Hon. Davies Mwila is on a two days working visit on the Copperbelt Province meeting party officials and aspiring candidates.
