REPUBLICAN Vice-President Her Honour Mrs Inonge Mutukwa Wina has arrived in North-Western Province for a three-day working visit.
Her Honour the Vice-President and her entourage touched down at the Zambezi airstrip in Zambezi District around 09:20hrs aboard a ZAF airplane this morning.
Mrs Wina and her entourage were upon arrival welcomed by ruling Patriotic Front (PF) Chairperson for North-Western Province Jackson Kungo and Provincial Permanent Secretary Willies Manjimela and some senior party officials in the area to minimise on large gatherings as a COVID -19 prevention measure.
And speaking shortly upon arrival at the airstrip, Mrs Wina commended the people who had come to welcome her for adhering to the prescribed COVID-19 safety guidelines.
Mrs Wina said Zambia like all other cou tries around the globe was fighting with the COVID Pandemic hence it was important to keep up with the fight on the local front.
“We are fighting Covid pandemic like all other countries in the world. I commend you for observing laid down health rules given to us by authorities,” Mrs Wina said.
She has also stressed that political leaders who are in the habit of breaking the rules on COVID-19 prevention should be made accountable for their actions.
Mrs Wina said people’s lives were very important and should be protected at all times even during the ongoing campaign period.
“The political leaders who are refusing to abide by the laws given by health personnel should be made accountable,” she said. “There is no need to risk our people’s lives so let’s continue to campaign in a peaceful manner as asked to do so by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), our political parties and the security wings.”
And former ruling Patriotic Front Member of Parliament for Kabwata Constituency Hon Given Lubinda has called on the people of Zambezi to take good care of themselves in the wake of the third wave of the COVID pandemic.
“Let us all take care of ourselves and our children because COVID-19 is real and thousands are getting infected on a daily basis,” Hon Lubinda said.
Hon Lubinda has also advised the people not to fall for the cheap propaganda by the opposition who are saying that Zambia had no president in place.
He said His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu was still president and Head of State and he loved them very much just like Vice-President Inonge Wina had done by visiting them in the area.
“President Edgar Chagwa Lungu is still president and he loves you very much,” Hon Lubinda added.
“And Vice-President Inonge Wina have a heart for all Zambians and that’s why she is telling you to take care of yourselves against covid.”
“Hadn’t it been for that, she would have organised a big rally here in Zambezi but because she cares for you she has given you the word which you should take to other people who are not here,” he added.
Hon Lubinda said it was unfortunate that a named political party had gone to court to challenge the rule against large gatherings and allow people to have rallies which was a sign that they did not care for the people.
He has since advised the people of Zambezi not to waste their precious time by giving an ear to those who have demonstrated that they did not care for their lives.
