VILLAGE HEADMEN in Chumba ward of Lukashya Constituency in Kasama District have praised President Edgar Lungu for spearheading development in the area.
The Headmen said President Lungu and the Patriotic Front has made tangible strides in developing their area and improving people’s livelihood.
Popo Chisanga village headman Eustace Sampa cited the rural electrification project, upgrading of the road network, erection of towers, social protection programmes and timely delivery of farming inputs as some of the developments that have taken place.
And Mushete Senior village headman Lawrence Mubanga paid tribute to President Lungu for showing commitment to improving the welfare of the marginalized in society.
The headmen said this during a meeting addressed by PF Northern Province campaign manager Geoffrey Mwamba and his deputy Bwalya Ng’andu at Mulobola Primary School.
And Mr. Mwamba assured the village headmen that President Lungu and the PF will continue to deliver development to all areas once re-elected in next month’s general elections.
He said the ruling party through its pro-poor policies will also endeavor to carry-on the legacy of bridging developmental inequalities envisioned by its founder, late President Michael Sata.
Earlier, Dr. Ng’andu, who is also former Minister of Finance, urged village headmen to encourage people in their respective areas to turn-up in numbers to vote in the August 12 general elections.
He said reducing levels of voter apathy is a responsibility of all stakeholders who include traditional leaders.
